Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at Kings Worthy Primary School
At Kings Worthy Primary School, we are committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where all children can thrive. We understand that some pupils may require additional support to reach their full potential, and we are dedicated to meeting the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We follow the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and ensure that all children have access to a broad, balanced, and ambitious curriculum. Our SEND provision is designed to support children in overcoming barriers to learning and developing their independence, well- being and resilience.

How We Support SEND Pupils
- Early Identification: We work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to identify needs as early as possible.
- Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Each child with SEND receives a tailored support plan with specific targets and interventions.
- High Quality Teaching (In-Class Support): Teachers adapt lessons using differentiated teaching strategies and additional resources to meet diverse learning needs.
- Small Group & One-to-One Interventions: Targeted support is provided by experienced staff to help pupils build key skills.
- External Support Services: We collaborate with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, CAMHS, educational psychologists, and other specialists/ professionals when needed.
- Emotional and Wellbeing Support: Our experienced pastoral team provides guidance and emotional support to help children feel safe, valued, and confident in their learning, mental health and resilience.
Working with Parents & Carers
We believe that strong communication between home and school is essential. We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure they are informed and involved in their child’s support plan. Regular review meetings and open communication help us to provide the best possible outcomes for every child.
If you are concerned about your child's progress or social and emotional needs, please speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance. The class teacher will be able to talk to you about the strategies that we might be able to use to support them. If they feel additional provision is required, your child's class teacher will speak to the school SENDCo (Amy Weatherup) who will advise on next steps.
